Maidstone Postcard Club

Welcome to the Website of the Maidstone Postcard Club!

The club holds monthly meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month (unless the Monday falls into Holy Week, when it is either the 3rd Tuesday or 4th Monday). The meetings are held at St Paul's Hall, Boxley Road, Maidstone, and start at 7pm till 10pm. The main part of the evening commences at 8pm, when any new or outstanding business is discussed. Then our presenter for the evening takes the floor until about 9:30pm, with a short break for refreshments at an appropriate break during the talk. The meeting closes at about 10pm. Postcard dealers or members wishing to sell or exchange postcards or ephemira are always present at meetings, many with local postcards of Maidstone or the surrounding villages.

Each year we hold two competitions for our members. Our annual competition invites members to display a single postcard at the monthly meetings using a specified subject per month (the subjects for 2017 are listed in "Programme"). Voting takes place on the evening, and the results tabulated. At the end of the year the member with most votes cast during the year wins a small prize, usually presented at the following January meeting.

The second competition is held at the Evening Fair in May, and is called the "Bernard Mundel Competition", named after a founder member. Members are invited to display a board of up to 18 postcards on any subject of their choice. The attendees of the Fair are asked to vote for their favourite three boards, and the winner with most votes is announced later on in the evening and awarded with the trophy.
